It has been a traditional practices that Tarsila (linage) had been traced up to the family of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) until it reaches down to Mohammad Sharif Kabunsuan who landed at the mouth of Pulangi river in the year 1475, thereupon pioneered the teaching of Islam. The native tribes in the Slangan area called their leader as “Timway”, while along the Pulangi river identified as “Rajah Buayan”. The arrival of Mohammad Sharif Kabunsuan marked the beginning of recording the so-called family tree, whose leader had been named as “Datu” and then elevated to a “Sultan”. Therefrom, Datu Maputi , the grandson of Mohammad Sharif Kabunsuan had been enthroned as the first Sultan of Rajah Buayan. With the declined of the Maguindanao Sultanate, various reigning Sultans sprang up along the Pulangi river. Many of them looked up to the Sultan of Rajah Buayan as the Paramount Leader. Accordingly, after the death of Sultan Maputi, his brother Sultan Maitum reigned over the three (3) identified Royal Houses such as Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao, and Kabuntulan. When Sultan Maitum died, he was succeeded by his elder son Sultan Bangon known as Sultan of Didagen or Bakat of Rajah Buayan. However, in 1865 Sultan Bangon died, his son Utto Anwarud-din or better known as Datu of Zapakan conceded not to accept the title of a Sultan for some valid reasons, but instead he turned over to his uncle the brother of his father Sultan Bayao of Kudaranggan in Midsayap, Cotabato. Even after the death of Sultan Bayao, still Utto Anwarud-din failed to assume the position of a Sultan for some valid reasons, he conceded again for the second time and turned over the title to his first cousin Sultan Tambilawan also known as Sultan Tambiarud-din, son of his uncle Sultan Bayao. He was enthroned as the Sultan of Rajah Buayan and properly recognized by the Spanish authorities as the Advocator of Peace. Before Sultan Tambilawan died, he anointed his son “Tato or Ande” Fernandez as his Successor. However, the coming of the Americans, Sultan Fernandez failed to exercise his role as a Sultan of Rajah Buayan, thus the royal house remain silent to his constituents. Then, Rajah Buayan Royal House was unremembered. Thereafter, series of crowning of Sultan of Rajah Buayan came into an open, however, the legitimacy for gaining such title could not be confirmed especially if the family linage could be traced-up through maternal side. To save the Royal House of Rajah Buayan from these practices which mar the integrity and dignity of its leadership, HRH SULTAN MOHAMMAD HADJI DATU DIMASONSANG E. G. FERNANDEZ, the son of Sultan Fernandez Ibn Sultan Tambilawan Bayao had come into open for declaration and recognized as the Legitimate and Noble Sultan. During his declaration and recognition on May 1, 2006 at Cotabato City, he wore the authentic antique attire of his grand father Sultan Tambilawan Bayao which was preserved for centuries. The recognition of a Legitimate Sultan of Rajah Buayan resolved the doubts leading to simultaneous enthronement of different Sultans coming from various sectors of the society but considerably not qualified. The Royal House of Maguindanao under the leadership of Sultan Mohammad Guiwan Mastura IV as well as that of Kabuntalan had expressed full support on the leadership of Sultan Mohammad Hadji Datu Dimasonsang E.G. Fernandez as the legitimate Paramount Sultan of Rajah Buayan and unifiedly pronounced the denial of those proclaimed sultans whose linage based on maternal side short-sighted criteria, which can be attributed to grave abuse of enthroning Sultanate Leadership. As a remark of the Royal House of Maguindanao, there is only one (1) Sultan that should be recognized in the Royal House of Rajah Buayan in the person of HRH SULTAN MOHAMMAD HADJI DIMASONSANG E.G. FERNANDEZ IBN SULTAN TAMBILAWAN BAYAO II. The Sultan also enthroned his cabinet members in the Royale House, to name as follows: MALE CABINET MEMBERS 1. DATU JOE “Datu Bebot” R.
